The COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials completed so far enrolled very few people with cancer, so there is not definitive data on the safety or effectiveness of the currently authorized vaccines in people with cancer. However, in most cases, people with cancer and cancer survivors are recommended to receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them. If you are in active cancer treatment, ask your doctor when you should receive the vaccine, as timing may be important.
