Endocrine Disruption

Endocrine Disruption

In addition to direct carcinogenicity, a significant pathway from environmental toxins to carcinogenesis is endocrine disruption.

Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with endocrine (or hormonal) systems. Examples include: BPAs, Phthalates, DDT, and DES, just to name a few.
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) has identified endocrine disruption as an “important public health concern.”

Indirectly, these endocrine disruptions can lead to increased obesity and diabetes, as well as progression of some diseases including cancer.

People may be exposed to endocrine disruptors through food and beverages consumed, pesticides applied, and cosmetics used. In essence, your contact with these chemicals may occur through diet, air, skin, and water.
